Who’s Who on Poolside?

Beth Molyneaux
Coach
Beth started diving at Havering Cormorants when she was 7 years old. Her world class diving career took her to various clubs but she’s been back with us coaching since 2005.
In between she represented Great Britain on the 10m platform and 3m springboard in several European and World Championships. She came 4th in the 10m synchro (as Beth Ackroyd) in the 1995 World Cup, and narrowly missed out on a place at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.
She’s a level 2 diving coach, a level 2 trampolining coach, a special needs coach in both diving and trampolining, and a fully qualified life guard.
Beth is involved in teaching at all levels of the club, from first timers right through to our top squad divers.

Alex Bagiu
Coach
Alex competed for Romania in the 1980 Olympics at both 10m platform and 3m springboard.
For the last 12 years he’s been coaching the Cormorants. He coaches our squad divers.

Ruby Thorne
Coach
Ruby started diving with Havering Cormorants when she was 5 years old. At 7 she switched to train at Stratford, and competed in the British Championships from 13 – where she was the only junior girl to compete a back 3.5.
She represented Wales at the Commonwealth games in 2022.
She is a level 2 qualified coach.
Ruby coaches beginners and squad divers, and (occasionally!) will get on the boards to show them how it’s done!

Ryan Anderson
Coach, Club Chairman
Ryan started diving when he was 8, but moved on to other things as a teenager. When his own children started diving, he got involved in the other side of the sport, qualifying as a level 1 coach and then taking over the running of the club.
In 2023 he qualified as a level 2 coach.
He teaches our recreational adult divers. He sometimes dives himself, and we love to see him take to the boards!
